My name is Mr. Richard Mancinelli. I will be the High School Social Studies teacher for school year 2009-2010. I have been teaching at Redland Christian Academy since August 2004. I am a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and I am a state certified teacher for my subject areas. The courses for the high school will be:

9th grade- World Geography
10th grade- American History
11th grade - World Geography
12th grade- Economics & American Government

The focus for the 9th grade will be a traditional physical geography curriculum. We will study all the Continents of the earth. There is one textbook required for this course. 
 

The 10th grade will cover American History in three parts. First, events leading up to the discovery of America, Pre and Post Revolutionary America, the War of 1812, the age of Jackson with the development of a new nation. The second part will deal the Manifest Destiny, Mexican War, rise of the South, the Civil War and Reconstruction. The third part deals with the Spanish American War, the United States as a world power, World War One and Two, Korean and Vietnam Wars. There is one textbook and an activity book required for this course.
 

The 11th grade will study the following aspects of World Geography: Physical, human, economic, social, cultural, and political aspects of the countries we will study. There is one textbook required for this course.


The 12th grade will study one semester of Economics dealing with: economic theories, supply and demand, economic systems, forms of ownership, the Federal Reserve System, Banking, and finally personal and financial planning. There is one textbook required for this course. The other semester will deal with American Government. We will study: the history of Government, The Constitution, Bill of Rights, the three branches of Government, Government at different levels, political parties, voting, and the rights and responsibilities of American citizens. There is one textbook required for this course.
