CHRISTIAN PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom.” — Proverbs 1:7
A Christian education begins with the understanding that God is the source of all truth. He is present in all things and for all things, and He is our frame of reference as we learn from the world around us. Therefore, His Word holds a position of priority over our educational philosophy.
The Christian philosophy of education is rooted in teaching facts that are aligned with the truth of Jesus Christ. Our purpose is to guide students to recognize their need for a personal relationship with Him. The goal is to nurture, admonish, and encourage each student to live a life of service—fully dedicated to and dependent on God in every area of their lives (Ephesians 4:1-6).
Scripture clearly states in Proverbs 22:6 and Deuteronomy 6:9-12 that parents hold the primary responsibility and privilege of fostering a love for learning in their children. In turn, parents authorize the school to assist in this educational journey, which is why the Christian school exists—to partner with parents in educating the next generation.

MISSION STATEMENT & GOALS
Mission Statement
At Redland Christian Academy, our mission is to guide each student toward a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are dedicated to instilling in our students respect, responsibility, and reverence for God, others, and themselves, preparing them to live lives that reflect Christ’s love.

Our Goals
  • To foster a strong partnership with parents as we work together to achieve the educational and spiritual goals for each child.
  • To offer a quality, God-centered educational program that integrates faith and learning in all subjects.
  • To provide a learning environment where students can develop spiritually, academically, socially, mentally, and physically.
  • To provide every student with the opportunity to achieve success academically and spiritually.
The curriculum at R.C.A. plays a key role in helping us attain these goals. We use the Abeka curriculum and Bob Jones University Press curriculum, which incorporate sound Biblical principles that uplift, encourage, and promote strong moral values. These curricula emphasize the importance of foundational subjects, especially phonics, which we believe is critical for reading success and overall academic excellence.
In high school, we also incorporate some of the finest secular curricula to adequately prepare our students for the challenges of higher education. Additionally, every student participates in a daily Bible class and attends a weekly chapel service, where they have the opportunity to worship and grow in their faith.

ACCREDITATION
Redland Christian Academy is fully accredited by the following esteemed organizations:
  • Association of Independent Schools of Florida (AISF)
  • National Christian School Association (NCSA)
  • Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)
This accreditation ensures that the work your child completes at R.C.A. and the courses they take are recognized and accepted by schools nationwide. For high school students, this means that their courses and credits will be accepted by all institutions of higher learning.

TEACHER QUALIFICATION
All of our teachers from first grade through high school have a Bachelors Degree or higher and are either certified by the State of Florida or are in the process of becoming certified.  Our pre-school teachers all have either a HRS certification in childcare or a Child Development Associates degree.

DISCIPLINE
We insist on clean, orderly classrooms where our students have the ability to learn in a friendly, safe environment without major distractions.  We use a variety of techniques in disciplining children.  Minor infractions are usually handled with a detention as the consequence and more severe infractions may require 1-3 days suspension depending on the offence.  Our ultimate goal is to apply discipline according to sound Biblical principals.  Proverbs 22:6 says to "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."

SCHOOL CALENDAR & HOURS
We attend school for approximately 180 days each school year.  For our parents’ convenience, we try to follow the Miami-Dade County Public School calendar for most holidays. We do, however, have less teacher work days.  School begins at 8:00 AM and ends at 3:00 PM, except on Wednesday when we dismiss at 2:00 PM.

DRESS CODE
Redland Christian Academy mandates that students wear uniforms.

PROGRAMS
Redland Christian Academy offers a FREE hot breakfast and lunch program, a before/after school care program, and an intramural sports program.  Every student participates in regular physical education classes, and computer classes.  Redland Christian Academy also has a full library and a very active Parent, Teacher & Friends organization where parents get involved and have a voice in school activities.  We offer very competitive tuition prices and a discount for additional children from the same family.  We can also tailor your tuition payments to meet your needs.

We hope this has answered many of the questions you may have about our school.  If you would like additional information and tuition prices, please call our school office at (305) 247-7399.  You may also view the Frequently Asked Questions portion of this website or the student handbooks on this website for more detailed information.
