Thank you for your interest in Redland Christian Academy. Since 1977, we have given parents the opportunity to send their children to a private school offering smaller classes, traditional learning styles, and most importantly, God centered teaching. R.C.A. is operated by members of the Homestead Church of Christ, and is governed by a board of directors. R.C.A. is FULLY ACCREDITED by the Association of Independent Schools of Florida, the National Christian School Association, and the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools. The efforts of our entire staff are directed toward providing the best educational environment and facility for your children. CHRISTIAN PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom.” Proverbs 1:7
Christian Education must begin with the realization that God is the source of all truth. He is in all and for all. He is our frame of reference as we learn from the world around us. Therefore, His Word holds a position of priority over our philosophy of education. The Christian philosophy of education is the teaching of facts that are based on the truth and the Lord Jesus Christ and that we do all for the glory of God. Its purpose is to convince the student of the need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Its goal is to nurture, admonish and encourage the student to live a life of service, fully dedicated to and dependent on God in every area of their lives (Ephesians 4:1-6). The Scripture clearly states in Proverbs 22:6 and Deuteronomy 6:9-12 that the parent holds sole responsibility and privilege of stimulating the joy of learning for their children. The parent in turn authorizes the school to assist them in the education process, hence, the Christian school. MISSION STATEMENT AND GOALS
To guide each student toward a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To instill in students respect, responsibility and reverence for God, others and self.
To build a strong relationship with parents as we work together to reach the educational and spiritual goals for each child.
To offer a quality, God-centered educational program.
To provide a learning environment in which the student may develop spiritually, academically, socially, mentally and physically.
Our Final goal is to provide every student the opportunity to achieve success academically and spiritually. The curriculum we use at R.C.A. helps us to attain that goal. The A Beka curriculum and Bob Jones University Press curriculum provide sound Biblical principles which uplift, encourage, and promote strong moral values. It also places a strong emphasis on the academic basics, including phonics as a basis for reading.
We believe that a child who has a strong phonetic foundation will excel in all other subjects. In addition, we also use some of the finest secular curriculum in our high school to prepare our students for the rigors of college. In addition, each student attends a Bible class each day and a chapel service one a week where he or she will spend time in worship and growing their faith.
All of our teachers from first grade through high school have a Bachelors Degree or higher and are either certified by the State of Florida or are in the process of becoming certified. Our pre-school teachers all have either a HRS certification in childcare or a Child Development Associates degree.
We insist on clean, orderly classrooms where our students have the ability to learn in a friendly, safe environment without major distractions. We use a variety of techniques in disciplining children. Minor infractions are usually handled with a detention as the consequence and more severe infractions may require 1-3 days suspension depending on the offence. Our ultimate goal is to apply discipline according to sound Biblical principals. Proverbs 22:6 says to "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."
School Calendar and Hours
We attend school for approximately 180 days each school year. For our parents’ convenience, we try to follow the Dade County Public School calendar for most holidays, but we do have less teacher work days. School begins at 8:00 AM and ends at 3:00 PM, except on Wednesday when we dismiss at 2:00 PM.
Redland Christian Academy requires that students wear uniforms. Our uniforms are very moderately priced and can be ordered by phone and online and delivered by UPS for our parents' convenience.
Redland Christian Academy has a hot lunch program, an after school care program, before school care program and an intramural sports program. Every student participates in regular physical education classes, and computer classes. Redland Christian Academy also has a full library and a very active Parent, Teacher & Friends organization where parents get involved and have a voice in school activities. We offer very competitive tuition prices and a discount for additional children from the same family. We can also tailor your tuition payments to meet your needs.
We hope this has answered many of the questions you may have about our school. If you would like additional information and tuition prices, please call our school office at (305) 247-7399.
