FAQ'S
fREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Redland Christian Academy?
Redland Christian Academy (R.C.A.) is a private, faith-based school serving students from K3 through 12th grade in the Homestead community since 1977. As a ministry of the Homestead Church of Christ, our school is led by a dedicated School Board made up of church members who share a deep commitment to Christian education. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization devoted to serving families with excellence and integrity.
Our mission is to provide a strong academic foundation while guiding students to know, love, and follow Jesus Christ. At R.C.A., we believe in nurturing the whole child—spiritually, intellectually, and emotionally—so they are equipped not only for life’s challenges, but for eternity with Him.

What grades attend R.C.A?
R.C.A. serves students from preschool (ages 3 and 4) through 12th grade, providing a Christ-centered education at every stage of learning.

Who accredits R.C.A?
Redland Christian Academy is fully accredited by the
Association of Independent Schools of Florida (AISF), the National Christian School Association (NCSA), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
This accreditation ensures that the education your child receives at R.C.A. meets rigorous academic standards and is recognized by schools and colleges across the country. For our high school students, this means that their courses and earned credits are accepted by all institutions of higher learning, giving them a solid foundation for future academic and career success.

What credentials do your teachers have?
At Redland Christian Academy, we take pride in the quality and dedication of our teaching staff.
All of our preschool teachers hold Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials, ensuring a strong foundation for our youngest learners. In our elementary, middle, and high school programs, every teacher either holds or is actively working toward a bachelor’s degree
, with several also earning master’s degrees in their fields. Additionally, all of our educators are either fully certified or actively working toward certification, reflecting our commitment to excellence in both academics and spiritual development.

What curricula do your students use?
At Redland Christian Academy, we are committed to providing a Christ-centered and academically enriching education at every level.
Our preschool and elementary students follow the A Beka curriculum, a Christian-based program known for its strong phonics foundation and biblical integration. Many of our students begin reading in preschool and continue to excel in literacy and foundational academics.

In middle and high school, students benefit from a blend of top-tier curricula from publishers such as Prentice Hall, Glencoe, Harcourt, Holt, Rinehart & Winston, and BJU Press. These programs challenge students to grow intellectually while reinforcing Christian values.
To further enrich their academic journey, middle and high school students are also encouraged to take Florida Virtual School (FLVS) courses, which offer a wide range of honors classes and electives. Additionally, students in grades 8 through 12 who meet the eligibility criteria have the opportunity to participate in dual enrollment with Miami Dade College, allowing them to earn college credit while still in high school.

What is the teacher/student ratio at R.C.A?
We believe that small class sizes create big opportunities for learning and growth.
At Redland Christian Academy, our student-to-teacher ratios are designed to ensure each child receives the attention and support they need to thrive:
  • In preschool, we maintain a 12:1 ratio for our three-year-old classes and a 15:1 ratio for our four-year-old classes.
  • From Kindergarten through 12th grade, our typical student-to-teacher ratio is 20:1.
  • In our Special Education program, class sizes are even smaller, averaging 15 students per teacher or teacher’s aide, allowing for more personalized instruction.
These ratios reflect our commitment to nurturing each student academically, spiritually, and emotionally in a Christ-centered environment.

Are uniforms mandatory at R.C.A?
Yes, all students at Redland Christian Academy are required to wear school uniforms. Uniforms promote a sense of unity, modesty, and school pride while minimizing distractions in the learning environment.
Uniforms may be purchased at the following local vendors:
  • Lumo Uniforms – Homestead
  • Creative Threads – Homestead
  • Ibiley Uniforms – Kendall
We appreciate your partnership in helping our students represent R.C.A. with excellence both on and off campus.

Do you provide transportation?
Redland Christian Academy does not provide school-operated transportation; however, we do maintain a list of local, independent bus companies that offer student transportation to and from our campus.
These companies provide both one-way and round-trip services, with fees determined by the distance from your home to the school. Families may contact these providers directly to arrange transportation that best fits their needs.
For more information or to request the list of transportation providers, please contact our school office.
See transportation companies list.

What scholarships does R.C.A. accept?
Redland Christian Academy proudly accepts Step Up for Students scholarships (formerly known as Florida Pride) to help make Christian education more accessible to families.
We also accept a limited number of McKay Scholarships, depending on space availability and the individual needs of the student. Decisions regarding acceptance of McKay Scholarship students are made by the Head Administrator, who carefully evaluates whether R.C.A. can provide the appropriate support and resources for each child’s success.
For more information on scholarship eligibility and availability, please contact our school office. We’re here to help guide you through the process.

When can I enroll my child?
At Redland Christian Academy, students may be enrolled at any time during the school year, provided there is space available in the desired grade level.
If you are planning ahead for the upcoming school year, open enrollment begins on March 1st and continues until classes are full. We encourage families to apply early, as space is limited and spots fill quickly.

Are students and their families required to be Christians to attend Redland Christian Academy?
While students and their families are not required to be Christians to attend Redland Christian Academy, our school is deeply rooted in Christian values and teachings. All students participate in daily Bible classes and weekly chapel services, where they are encouraged to learn about God’s Word and grow in their understanding of His love and truth.
We also encourage all of our families to worship regularly with their home church. If you do not currently have a church home, we warmly invite you to join us at the Homestead Church of Christ, where you’ll find a welcoming community ready to walk with you in faith.
Our goal is to create an environment where students not only grow academically but also have the opportunity to experience the hope and grace found in Jesus Christ.
