It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our science classroom. My name is Lorena Aristizabal. I attended Nova Southeastern University and I have been part of the Redland Christian Academy teaching family for over four years.
Science encompasses everything that is happening around us in our daily lives. My mission is to foster a lifelong interest in the students in understanding the world around us, and to have them begin to gain the knowledge to make our stewardship of the Earth more productive and rewarding for ourselves and for future generations.
My goal and mission for all my classes is to maintain a high level of student expectations and responsibility, holding students accountable for their behavior and educational choices. I expect all of my students’ full cooperation and effort in accomplishing our established academic and social goals. I also expect all of my students to respect each others’ culture, personal choices, and ethnic heritage. All of my students will be held to this high standard of acceptable behavior. This will create an environment where everyone may express their views without fear of ridicule or reprisal.
I believe a teacher is a part of a collaborative team consisting of parents, students and educators. I believe the classroom is a place where learning occurs in the teacher, students and parents. I believe that the teacher is a facilitator that leads lessons and engages students’ interest in lessons. I believe that all children have the desire to learn and succeed. At R.C.A. we truly believe that successful schools are founded on the partnership between staff, parents and students.
Science is happening everyday and is everything around us. I look forward to helping your sons and daughters develop a knowledge and concern for their environment and our limited resource – Earth. Together we can make a difference.
